Like Bob Dylan, he was also heavily influenced by Woody Guthrie.
He met Garfunkel while performing in Alice in Wonderland for their sixth grade graduation and went on to perform at school dances together.
He married Peggy Harper in 1969, Carrie Fisher in 1983, and Edie Brickell in 1992. He has four children, three sons named Harper, Gabriel and Adrian and a daughter named Lulu.
